French language program

Bonjour et Bienvenue!

At Taren Point Public school we value the benefits of learning a second language.

Since the launch of our French Immersion program in 2018 its success enabled us to become a member of the Australian Association of French English Bilingual Schools (AAFEBS). We are proud to boast being one of only 3 schools in NSW and 15 in Australia to have this recognition.

French Immersion Program

Our immersion program was launched in Kindergarten in 2018 and its success enabled us to become a member of the Australian Association of French English Bilingual Schools (AAFEBS). We are proud to boast being one of only 3 schools in NSW and 15 in Australia to have this recognition.

In 2023 we were delighted to receive the Label Franc Éducation accreditation - internationally recognised as a quality mark for French-speaking bilingual education abroad. The Label Franc Éducation is awarded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Students in Years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to sit for the DELFexam, facilitated by the Alliance Française of Sydney. DELF is a diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education which certifies one’s level of proficiency in French. This certificate is internationally recognised, valid for life and opens up enriching opportunities for study, travel, work and more.

Our French immersion program teachers (native French speakers) are parent funded and team teach with the classroom teacher, teaching the Australian Curriculum in French (4 hours per week).

We have received substantial community support in providing the program from both the French Embassy and the Francophone Association of Southern Sydney (FASS). FASS have successfully applied for STAFE funding through the French government to provide valuable resources for our students and improvements to our learning facilities.

The program is offered from Kindergarten through to Year 6. 2026 costs for the program are $2560 with a 10% discount for siblings. Places are limited. Please contact the school office if you would like to register your child on our waiting list for future years.

French Play Group (ages 0 to 6)

It's never too early to learn a language, build friendships and connect with other French speaking families. At Taren Point PS we offer a French Playgroup for families of 0 to 6 year olds who speak French or have an interest in French culture. We meet every Friday from 10:00 am to 11 am during school term.

La Belle Vie French Market - Sunday 17 May 2026

Our annual French market - La Belle Vie is a fabulous day on our school calendar - 3rd Sunday in May. With over 70 stalls of French goodness and 4000 plus visitors each year, you can be guaranteed a fantastique, family day out!

The market is an initiative that is supported by  the Francophone Association of Southern Sydney (FASS) and held to promote the French programs at TPPS. This event is a great showcase for TPPS and offers an international vibe to the Sutherland Shire.

It is a date not to be missed!
